Session 7: Depositional Environment & Safety

continental depositional environment
types of dunes, Fluvial&Alluvial system
Also she talked about Marine depositional environment, River forms,
Submarine alluvial fan, marginal marine depositional environment & Delta.
The 2nd part of the session was about safety by
Mr. Mustafa Salheen, Geophysicist, Western Geco & Mr. Mustafa Afify, Geophysicist, CGG VERITAS.They talked about safety awareness, definition of safety
Safety in oil industry, difference between (hazard & risk) EPR
(emergency response plan)
FAC (first aid case & LTI (long or last time injuring).
Also the students were divided into teams to do some exercises
about safety to learn how to behave in different situations & still safe.
Session 8: Seismic Stratigraphy & Team Exercise
Date: 5/8/2010, Amphitheater (7), Cairo University.
Presentation by: Mr. Bahaa Eldin Hamdy
Junior Exploration Geologist, Shell Egypt.Mr. Bahaa talked about what is meant by seismic stratigraphy
how seismic stratigraphy helps to understand the geological information
embedded within seismic & how it helps to reconstruct a basin’s Geohistory
The 2nd part was really the best part in the whole young professional program
because it was about working in a team
so the students were divided into 4 teams to make some team exercises
Jigsaw puzzles with 300 pieces were given to Students
& each team had to collect the largest number of pieces together
Also cubes, plastic cups, balloons & elastic rubbers
were given to each team & that's to make a tall & stable building
That’s all to learn how to work in a team &
how to use all available materials to reach the goal.
